Big announcement coming out of the Art Gallery of Toronto (AGO) today. Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors will be coming to the AGO next year from March 3rd – May 27th, 2018.
Yayoi Kusama’s work is breathtaking. She’s been dubbed the “Priestess of Polka Dots” as her work is comprised mostly of millions of hand-painted polkadots and patterns in succession.
About the exhibit, the AGO writes:
Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors provides visitors with the unique opportunity to experience six of Kusama’s most iconic kaleidoscopic environments at once, alongside large-scale, whimsical installations and key paintings, sculptures and works on paper from the early 1950s to the present. It also marks the North American debut of numerous new works by the 87-year-old artist, who is still actively creating in her Tokyo studio.
This is the first North American tour in 20 years for the artist, with stops in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Cleveland in addition to Toronto.
